Fun BOM

I found a new fun BOM on the net this week, so I'm going to make it for one of the children. Simple stitchery and easy blocks. Found a perfect border fabric in our Zim stash, so I pulled out a bunch of FQs in matching colours.

We are back at work in 2011!

Audrey made this lovely bright quilt, using diagonal squares, one of our favorite patterns. We have a whole box of 6 1/2" squares precut, so to make this pattern we just pick a border, then sort out squares to match, and add to them from the stash. It makes the cutting quite quick.

My name is Cathy and I am part of a small group of quilters who are making quilts for the Sandra Jones Childrens Village in Zimbabwe. This home is for girls who have been repeatedly raped in their home situations. They may be as young as 3 yrs old. The village also cares for babies who have been abandoned, many of whom are HIV positive. You can read more about this wonderful ministry on their website:

HOW YOU CAN HELP

With the quilts: We always need money for polar fleece for backing these quilts, and money to post them. Each quilt costs approximately $14 for polar fleece and $16 for postage. We also need bright pretty patchwork quality cotton, so if you are a quilter with too much fabric, please get in contact.
